Why are some people more healthy than others? Why do some people heal quicker? The link between the body and mind is a fascinating one. The power of the mind to heal or harm is incredible. By looking at how our thinking patterns and emotional responses affect our health, we can learn to heal our bodies. By reclaiming responsibility for our bodies, we can start to change our mental and emotional patterns to make us feel better. The physical body is only a part of our whole, so it's important not to feel afraid or a victim just because the rest of you is trapped inside a physical sickness.
The body is a brilliant self-regulator. It's constantly trying to rebalance itself. Sometimes, in its effort to do so, we experience physical discomfort. This is particularly true if we cannot release our emotions cleanly and healthily. It's as though the energy of the trauma attaches itself to a part of the body and gets stuck there. This process is reinforced by our negative thinking patterns, such as 'I always get headaches' or 'Whenever I try to get fit, I put my back out.' In finding and understanding the emotional root cause of the problem, we not only get an opportunity to cure that problem once and for all, but it also offers us a fascinating insight into how healthy the way we choose to live our life really is.
So, what is your body trying to tell you?
The left side - Our inner self, our feelings, intuition, emotions and creativity. It relates to our past and how we receive.
The right side - Our public self, our drive and ambition. It relates to our future and the way we give.
Hot - High blood pressure, fevers, inflammations, boils and rashes relate to a need for the body to release an excessive build-up of heat. This can be repressed emotion, anger or frustration. The repressed emotional heat is trying to find a physical way out.
Cold - Bad circulation, shiveriness, chills, numbness etc relate to a withdrawal of emotion, a need to go in and protect oneself. Think of the expression 'Cold hands, warm heart.' A very 'feeling', warm-hearted person can get drained by others and so perhaps shrinks back from contact and into the inner self.
Breaks/fractures - A sudden release of energy/emotion, trauma or inner conflict. A need to rebel. A break slows us down and gives us time to reassess what went wrong, and how we can change. Where the break occurred will give you an insight into what you need to look at.
Skin - Rashes, eczema, spots. The skin is sensitive and feels everything. What we repress emotionally comes out through the skin. Look at the part of the body most affected to learn more eg. a rash on the legs could mean you're frustrated about choices you're being pressurised to make. Our legs direct us forward, backwards and to the side. Is the rash more on the left side? If so it could mean you want to change but you're stuck in a situation, or perhaps the choice of move you're having to make could be repressing your creativity.
Head - Too much in the head and not enough in the physical. The brain is getting an overload of thought that it doesn't need or want. The body's only way to get you to stop thinking is to give you a pain to prevent you from focusing your energies on anything else.
Back - Stores our life. Everything we don't wish to look at, we put behind us, but we still carry it around with us. It can be that when we have a problem in our lower back, which represents us when we were a baby or a child, something has happened to upset us: something unrelated, but which triggers a similar emotion to that experienced as a child. This present pain allows us to untrap the childhood fear or hurt and look at it as an adult. Often, we get a problem with the upper back, the present, at the same time. How we deal with the problem now helps to heal the trapped negative emotion from when we were younger.
Legs - Carry us forward or take us backwards. Like a tree trunk they are our stability, security and grounding. Often a problem in this area is suggesting we're not grounded or focused about what we want and where we're going.
Feet - Give us contact with the earth, so we can feel the direction we're going in. Flat feet represent a need to feel safe, while high arches generally belong to people with their head in the clouds. Bunions represent passivity, or a dominant person in your life who has left their mark. Are your feet hot or cold? Is the problem on the left or right foot?

I so agree, unresolved conflicts from the past can result in physical ailments to the body. Thse past emotions need to be released in order for the body to start to heal.
